Bark Bowl, 2
Bark Bowl, 2 is a hand-built one-of-a-kind ceramic bowl. In the Bark Bowls series, I integrate the texture of tree bark onto the surface of the bowl. I'm interested in pushing the boundaries of what can be a bowl or vessel. The result is a functional sculpture.
Each bowl is hand-formed using high quality stoneware clay. I then begin the back-and-forth process of adding bark texture. Bark Bowl, 2 has a glazed interior that transitions from light sky blue to deep sapphire blue. Brown ceramic stains highlight the texture of the exterior.
